The work of SIM consists of projects and collaborations aimed at overall health system change. These projects fall into three categories. The first is investing in Rhode Island’s healthcare workforce, which means making sure that we have the types of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers, who have the right level of training and support to meet the needs of all Rhode Islanders. The second category is patient engagement, which means giving patients the tools and information they need to make good choices about their health and their care. The last category of initiatives is increasing data capability and expertise to provide feedback to policy makers, providers and consumers about quality of care and the overall health of the population.
